Hospital' is a semi autobiographical music and spoken word performance about recovery, adversity, redemption, and gratitude. Performed by vocalist Viki Mealings & violinist Peter O'Shea, it is musically both quirky and beautiful, featuring violin, guitar, mandolin and bodrán, with a narrative that journeys through despair and hope. Presenting Artist or Company VIKI MEALINGS Producer, performer. Viki is a poet, musician, songwriter, and artist. She was the winner of the 2010 Human Rights Arts and Film Festival poetry slam and the winner of Poetryspective Retrospective Slam 2022. She is the lead singer of Melbourne folk band Brittle Sun. Their reworking of W B Yeats' 'The Ballad of Moll Magee’ featured in Art Saves Lives International which is an on-line art magazine based in Portsmouth, UK. Her poetry explores issues of inequality and alienation. Brittle Sun's songs have had extensive community radio airplay both nationally and internationally. Brittle Sun released their latest single ‘Koko the Gorilla’ in January of this year, 2026. Viki has produced two successful Melbourne Fringe shows in the past - ‘I am That Woman’ (in 2015) ‘ and ‘How the Light Gets In’ (2024). She is currently working on a new album. PETER O”SHEA Music director, performer. Peter is a veteran of the Australian Music scene and a multi Golden Fiddle award winner. He has played in countless bands, recording sessions, appeared on TV, radio and also appeared in films and theatre productions as a Musician and actor, notably ‘Ned Kelly’, the 2003 film starring Heath Ledger. He has 3 solo albums and has produced 4 music books. Peter’s original compositions reflect the diversity and colour of his hometown Melbourne. He recently played Lazarus and Simon the Pharisee in a musical production ‘Mary Magdalene’. He is currently working on a new album.
